The Hecho en casa company playfully adapts Taï-Marc le Thanh and Rebecca Dautremer's children's book, transposing Cyrano de Bergerac to medieval Japan. We find, of course, Edmond Rostand's famous hero, with his large nose, a poet with a big heart, secretly in love with his cousin Roxane, who only has eyes for the handsome—but somewhat dim-witted—Christian. Here, there are no capes or ruffs, but a Cyrano in a kimono, a Roxane who is a geisha, samurai swords, and flowering bushes that poetically weave their way into the story. The three actresses, using masks, transport us to another time and place, through a text that is both witty and subtle. How can one resist this famous literary love story, bathed in the oriental fragrance of Japanese flowers?
