Work by Roland Cognet FOCUS FOREST OF CONTEMPORARY ART: With around thirty works, La Forêt d'Art Contemporain (FAC) has aimed since 2009 to create a real tool for the production and dissemination of contemporary art in a rural environment in the form of a regional itinerary. By hosting artists in residence, presenting their work, and producing evolving works in an itinerary, this project fully contributes to the cultural development of the territory of the Landes de Gascogne Regional Natural Park. "My work seeks to create a dialogue between different forms, constructed elements with simple and architectural geometry and elements from living things, plants and animals in the same space. In my project for the Mont-de-Marsan park, I therefore propose to put into context a set composed of a horizontal cedar beam, a Landes pine trunk, a round plant shape carved from a sequoia and an animal; the wood comes from the region near Mont-de-Marsan, and the animal (bronze) that I chose to represent is a wolf: it will be there to recall the presence of untamed nature and will be a landmark for the visitor to the park. This Landscape and Wolf ensemble will also offer the various walkers who visit or cross the park a sort of parenthesis, echoing the question of the tree, wood, balance with the forces of nature, in the manner of a landscape. » — Roland Cognet
