Philosophy in the spotlight: love

Gatherings and meetings, Show, representation, Theatre, opera in Mont-de-Marsan
  • Since the dawn of time, Love has capsized, illuminated, destroyed or upset. It is this mysterious power that gives life to great tragedies and fairy tales. Love has a thousand faces. If we look for him, he hides. If we find him, he ties us up. If he's crazy, we'll get lost. Should Love then be strategic to be true? Since the dawn of time, Love has capsized, illuminated, destroyed or upset. It is this mysterious power that gives life to great tragedies and fairy tales. Love has a thousand faces. If we look for him, he hides. If we find him, he ties us up. If he's crazy, we'll get lost. Should Love then be strategic to be true? An evening in two stages During the evening “Philosophy on stage”, the Theater will meet Philosophy. The evening will be divided into two parts: Firstly, a show on a strong theme: Love! The Théâtre des Lumières actresses Laurence Niedzwiecki and Aurélia Bartolomé will bring to life great texts by thinkers and writers who have dealt with Love (Plato, Duras, A.Cohen, Skakespeare, R.Barthes, Pagnol...) Then secondly, at the end of the performance, the practicing philosopher Sophie Geoffrion will intervene to lead a discussion with the public on what was seen and heard. Everyone will be able to express their ideas and compare their points of view. An evening for everyone “Philosophy on stage” is aimed at young and old, newbies, curious people... For all those who wish to learn, think, listen or reflect while having a simple and warm time. The Théâtre des Lumières has always defended popular theater which is aimed at everyone. And the idea of chatting after a show only reinforces this idea of sharing and conviviality which are part of the company's DNA. For almost 20 years Sophie Geoffrion has defended the idea that philosophy is a common good. We can all practice it. No need for erudition to think for yourself. Philosophical practice is the school of freedom. Associated with theater it takes on an artistic dimension and if each spectator leaves richer in thoughts and questions, we will have succeeded in our mission! Sophie Geoffrion, philosopher and creator of “Philosophy on stage” explains that for ideas to live they must be made to exist! The theater which opens the evening has the function of awakening ideas and awakening the senses. Philosophy, the art of questioning, allows a more in-depth look at a theme. At first glance, philosophical practice and theatrical practice have little in common. Thought constructs concepts, expresses paradoxes, provokes questions. The theatre, which allows it to be seen, sublimates the ordinary in an aesthetic approach. However, on closer inspection, the mixture of the two allows for wonder and astonishment. Theater is the living art that allows access to philosophical difficulty, since it makes the illegible readable, the invisible visible and allows access to the truth of ideas. As a live performance, it is an art of a particular kind which summons the oral, the language, the verb, the saying and the meaning. “Philosophy on stage”, another way of going to the theater and wondering about our world, simply Ticketing on site on the day of the show
