23ème Open International d'échecs de Noël

Our 23rd Mont-de-Marsan International Christmas Open will take place from December 26th to 30th, 2026, at the Auberge Landaise in Mont-de-Marsan. The tournament will be held over five days during the Christmas holidays, as there are no other tournaments in the southwest quarter of France at this time. As with the previous edition, we expect 150 participants, including 20 to 30 young players aged between 10 and 20, with 8 to 10 in the cadet and junior categories. We are particularly keen to support our youngest players by offering free registration to the various Landes departmental champions and Aquitaine champions from the U11 to U19 categories. Furthermore, registration will be free for young players who are members of the French National Team. Two young players from the French National Team and several young players from the Aquitaine region are likely to attend, as the tournament has been selected as part of the League's performance program. We are also expecting 8 to 10 International Grandmasters from across Europe. The games from the top three boards of each round will be broadcast live on our website: http://www.echiquier-montois.fr/ This tournament will be officially rated by the French Chess Federation (FFE) and the International Chess Federation (FIDE). Many players seek this rating to increase their Elo rating and climb the rankings. The tournament will be officiated by an international arbiter, who will determine the players' rankings.
