ELIASSE Forget Comorian blues or Indian Ocean rock: Eliasse is ZANGOMA! This musical concept, created by Baco, a renowned Comorian musician, refers to the fusion of Western, Comorian, and Indo-Oceanic music. Eliasse creates his Zangoma rock by blending rock, blues, and folk with rhythms typical of his archipelago and, more broadly, Africa. From twarab to mgodro, from maloya to Afrobeat, Zangoma rock reveals its multifaceted nature. Its foundation is the drum (ngoma), and Eliasse's percussive rock proudly embraces this shared and hybrid heritage! With their third album, eponymously titled Zangoma, slated for release in spring 2023 (Soulbeats Music), Eliasse and his power trio promise to deliver another dose of groove: Fred Girard's powerful drumming, Eliasse's roaring guitar, Jérémy Ortal's swaying bass, and a thousand vocal nuances… In short: the Indian Ocean is dancing to ZANGOMA ROCK! ZOCCO BAIA The quintet quickly found its voice: zouk, cumbia, Italian songs—a unique offering that packs a punch on stage. More than 150 concerts, festivals like Tempos du Monde and Les Odyssées du Rio Loco, and local collaborations have forged their singular and promising identity. The EP Birra & Caffè confirms their energy and their love of sharing, further enhanced by the “Green House Sessions.” These mini-concerts in the greenhouse of the Bordeaux Botanical Garden complement their cultural outreach to school and social service audiences, and their commitment to nature conservation, a theme prominent in their lyrics and music videos. Their debut album, L'Ora d'Oro (April 2026), promises new musical fusions, best experienced live.
