The delicate balance between the precision of the line and the fluidity of the water. Water and Structure: Modify your colors for greater luminosity: In figurative watercolor, this requires great mastery of the paper's surface. Michel seeks to make his subjects vibrate by playing with transparency. Structuring the drawing: I return to the precision of the line to focus on my figurative subject. This is what gives my watercolor a visual anchor. The unpredictability of water: This is the poetic meeting point. Even when working figuratively, I accept that the water determines the final mixture. It's a form of letting go. The Trigger: The Image and the Place. My inspiration takes root in reality. My starting point is always a specific place, image, or subject. It is this contact with the tangible world that launches the creative process. From this visual reference point, I focus on structuring the drawing to give a solid foundation to my composition. The Culmination: The Whirlwind and the Harmony. Although starting from reality, I enter into an intimate relationship with my painting. This process can resemble a whirlwind, a moment of intense creation where technique and emotion converge to achieve a final harmony. The work finds its ultimate completion and protection when I decide it is ready to be framed under glass, thus permanently freezing the transparency and the life of the watercolor.
