Le Trafic de Pantalone

This festive and politically charged spectacle, driven by the energy of the performers, the rhythm of the drums, and the poetry of traditional Italian songs, resonates with the urgent issues of today through the timeless masks of the Commedia dell'Arte. Under the southern Italian sun, a breath of justice rises between shadow and light. Rosa, defying the tyrannical power of her uncle, the Magnifico, governor of Venice, is sent into exile in southern Italy where she is betrothed to Tancredi, the son of Pantalone. This old miser welcomes her to his majestic palace, from which she watches Harlequin and thousands of other laborers go by. All are subject to the mysterious Pulcinella, working in Pantalone's olive grove. How could Pantalone, this landowner from the most remote region of Italy, have amassed so much wealth from olives? Uncovering Pantalone's scheme will allow Rosa to regain her freedom, as well as that of Harlequin and the other workers. These characters draw us into an adventure where thwarted love, power struggles, social injustices, and the ecological crisis intertwine at the frenetic pace of Commedia dell'Arte!
