Musée des Forges

The Brocas forges are nestled in a green setting combining natural and built heritage. Between the pond, the Estrigon, the workers' city, the forge master's house, and the finishing workshop, overlooks the blast furnace dating from 1832. The entire site has been listed as a French historical monument since 2006. Push open the door of the forge museum (located in a former flour mill) and come discover the life and work of 19th-century Landes workers. Volunteers from the Friends of the Forges association will immerse you in the heart of the Landes metallurgical adventure. Every year, many visitors discover the site and the collection of more than 500 cast iron objects. The "Forge Museum" was founded in 1989 and strives to recount and preserve the memory of the hard work of our ancestors. On the site, the workers' housing is still there, next to the old coal shed and the finishing workshop, as well as the forge pond. In the museum, explanatory panels on the techniques used, forging tools and a video on casting complete a rich collection of period cast iron, firebacks, unique pieces, etc. … Open every day except Mondays in July and August (from 3 p.m. to 7 p.m.).
