This event is organized by the University of Pau and the Adour Region and the Lacq Odyssée / Science Odyssée science, technology, and industry center, in collaboration with the Philippe Labeyrie Media Library and the Mont-de-Marsan metropolitan area. Evening Conferences: Throughout the evening, attend conferences on various topics presented by researchers from UPPA. 6:00 PM: "Childhood and Sports Practice" A conference presented by Esteban Bigot, a doctoral student in Sports Science at the Movement, Balance, Performance, and Health (MEPS) laboratory on the UPPA's Anglet campus. Between remarkable abilities and developmental vulnerabilities, let's explore the benefits and points of vigilance associated with sports practice in young people. 7:00 PM: "Cosmic Safari: Deep-Sky Objects" A lecture presented by Benoit Lott, CNRS Research Director (Astro-Neutrino Unit at the Laboratory of Physics of the Two Infinities - LP2i Bordeaux). Deep-sky objects comprise a vast cosmic menagerie. Beyond their scientific interest, these objects with their diverse properties inspire fascination and wonder. Let's explore some of the most emblematic among them. 8:00 PM: "Eco-Building Materials: What Properties and Advantages?" A lecture by Marco Antonio Camargo Quijada, PhD student at the Laboratory of Engineering Sciences Applied to Mechanics and Electrical Engineering (SIAME), and Rafik Abdallah, lecturer at SIAME. Eco-building materials, such as raw earth, offer a sustainable, local, recyclable, and low-carbon alternative to conventional materials. What if yesterday's techniques became solutions adapted to the challenges of tomorrow's world? Evening Activities: Several activities, workshops, and games will be offered by different areas throughout the evening (continuously from 5:00 PM to 9:00 PM). Building Area: Adobe, rammed earth, cob: Marco Antonio Camargo Quijada (SIAME, UPPA) and Rafik Abdallah (SIAME, UPPA) will provide an overview of the methods and techniques used to construct buildings in different parts of the world. By handling samples, you will be able to understand the purpose and advantages of each technique, particularly from an environmental perspective. Astronomy Area: What if particles created in other galaxies were passing through us without us even realizing it? Thanks to a cosmic ray detector, Benoît Lott (CNRS, Laboratory of Physics of the Two Infinities, Bordeaux) invites you to encounter these particles, muons, invisible and distant witnesses of violent events. The Marsan Astronomy Club will be present, offering models and exhibits. Sports Hub: Strength, reactivity, balance, endurance, proprioception: come test your various physical qualities through experimentation with Esteban Bigot (MEPS, UPPA). Then discover areas for improvement and optimization factors to help everyone reach their full potential. Alone or with others... come challenge yourself! Chemistry Hub: Léo Leroyer, development and industrialization engineer at Biolandes, will present the company. Based in Le Sen in the Landes region (40), this company specializes in the production of essential oils. Using a hydrodistillation process (steam distillation with a still), discover the different stages of this production and distill your own lavender essential oil. Biology Hub: Through a video game, put yourself in the shoes of a fish swimming upstream. Between feeding and avoiding being eaten, you'll see that there are many obstacles before reaching the end of the journey. Cédric Tentelier, a teacher-researcher (Ecobiop, UMR INRAE/UPPA), will offer you the opportunity to learn more about migratory fish and will detail the evolution of their population in the waterways of Southwest France.
