In its 18 years of existence, the Old School Funky Family has played over 300 concerts and released 4 albums, always with a fierce desire to spread its groove across stages in France and Europe. With an unrelenting rhythm section (sousaphone, drums, guitar, keyboards) and a virtuoso saxophone quartet (soprano, alto, tenor, baritone), the instrumental octet has refined an artistic approach that is increasingly committed to composition, thus defining a unique identity. Drawing on the influences of artists such as Maceo Parker, Roy Hargrove, Vulfpeck (funk), and Fela Kuti (afrobeat), the whimsical and multifaceted world of OSFF blends and challenges styles while showcasing the timbres of its original instrumentation. The music is sparkling and groovy, the arrangements are sharp and bold, all within a lighthearted atmosphere that reflects the 15 years of camaraderie and shared experiences between these high school friends. Their motto is: “Make music seriously without taking ourselves too seriously!”
