Rencontre – Ahmet Altan

Born in Ankara in 1950, Ahmet Altan is a major Turkish novelist and journalist. A champion of democracy and human rights, he was convicted in 2016 following the failed coup and spent more than four years in prison before his release in 2021, under pressure from the European Court of Human Rights. Author of numerous novels, including Madame Hayat (winner of the 2021 Prix Femina étranger), he continues his literary work with That Year, to be published on November 4 by Actes Sud.
